1st Prize, Urban Planning Competition

Concept

The project won first prize in an EU-wide urban and landscape planning competition. The area of the former army barracks was redesigned with a new programme.
The overlapping of the city structure and the landscape forms the basis of the new development. The landscaping of the interior and the permeability and transparency of the building components make the area an unmistakable new urban district.
660 subsidised housing units, a kindergarten, a technical college, commercial space and local utilities were built on the site.
