1st Prize, Architectural Competition
The University Clinic for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (usually abbreviated to ZMK), which was also previously located in the former garrison hospital, is to take over a larger share of the university training in the future. This will result in an increased need for research and training facilities.
The concept of the ZMK takes into account the increased space requirements and the changed curriculum. It integrates the adapted functions, while preserving the listed building fabric as far as possible, and closing the garrison yard or adding a new building wing to the ensemble. A glass-covered hall is being created between the old and new buildings, as an entrance hall and central access area for all functional units.
